WFT?! (what's for tea): Pupcakes

Hello Fellow Nom Seekers!

Just to clarify, the recipe for sharing today is pupcakes for pup consumption versus cakes made of dog meat.  In case anyone was wondering...  I was going to title this post "WFT?! Doggy Style" but decided against it as I would probably get lots of hits for all the wrong reasons...

Dogs are the ultimate nom seekers.  Well mine are, as they are professional beggars whenever a mere whiff of food wafts by.  So I believe it makes sense to dedicate a recipe post for them.  My senior dog, Minka recently had a series of medical issues which necessitated her to fast for a blood test.  I wanted to nourish her post fast with some delicious pupcakes.  These are made from fresh veggies and chicken meat and can be frozen and defrosted when ready to eat.  They are also great for bringing along to doggy play dates as they are very transportable.  Also if your pup is being babysat whilst you are on holidays, a batch of these can be left with the babysitter as a treat (for the dogs, that is, not the babysitter.  Although, I guess, there is no reason why human pack leaders can't consume these)

Ingredients:
  • 1 carrot, 1 cup of broccoli florets, 1 cup of cauliflower florets.  You can use whatever veggies you have lying around. Avoid the obvious ones such as onions, mushrooms and spinach which can potentially make your dogs ill
  • 2 chicken thigh fillets
  • 1/2 cup of self raising flour
  • 1/2 cup of grated low fat cheddar cheese.  You can leave the cheese out if your dogs are lactose intolerant
  • 1 egg
Method:

  • Pre heat oven to 200C.
  • Whizz the veggies in the food processor.  Set aside.
  • Whizz the chicken meat in the food processor.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients.
  • Line a muffin tin with two layers of paper cases per hole.
  • Scoop the mixture into muffin tins and bake for 25 - 30 mins until tops are golden and crunchy looking.
